ModelCo

So last night I was scrolling through my instagram (http://instagram.com/jessika_sky) newsfeed and came across a posting from Brontie about ModelCo, she and a few other expressed their extreme dislike for this brand, Brontie messaged me and told me a few reasons why she disliked this brand so much and also linked me to another blog where more people were expressing dislike and hate, and I was actually really interested in all this hate as I actually found out that I have an eyeshadow trio from ModelCo (I wasn't too sure if it was actually that brand or another I usually just grab whatever eyeshadow colour I'm after for the day and go for it) which I had actually been using and seemed to not have any problems with, as with using one of their fiber lash mascara's a long time ago.

I actually got the eyeshadow and fiber mascara with a Cleo or Cosmopolitain magazine yonks ago, maybe like 2 years now, and I know it's not sanitary to keep reaaaally old eyeshadows, mascaras etc but I found this trio was still working for me and giving me good colours and pigmentation, I'd long used the mascara and was actually going to get another but it was really expensive at the time, the mascara was Fiber Lash Brush on False Lashes.

I'm not saying I love or hate this brand as I've really only used two products, but I will say the two products I used I didn't actually mind, I'm thinking I might trial out one of their lippys or a mascara who knows lol, but the eyeshadow trio I have actually retails for $26! I think that is just a little much for 3 colours, although they are nice and pigmented I think maybe $10 for the trio would be more acceptable. Here is a link to the eyeshadow trio, Mine is in the colour "Bronzed Goddess" ModelCo Eyeshadow Trio.

The 3 colours in this trio are actually really nice, I found the brown isn't as sparkly as the first two. I really love the first colour as you can tell!

I have 3 swatches of the colours, with flash of a camera on, outside but not directly in sunlight and then in sunlight.

With flash

Outside but not in direct sunlight

In sunlight

Now I have actually created a kind of everyday neutral look (for me anyway, I pretty much wear this everyday) using these three colours,
I took the second colour which is the pinkish toned colour and put all over my lid, I used the dark brown colour in my outer V I then put the first colour, in the middle of my lid, in between the dark brown and pink colour, and blended, I feel that doing this makes your eyes really pop and look bright. You may or may not be able to tell I have done this.

I hope you all enjoyed this review/ makeup look!

Tattoos and Piercings..

I don't know if this post will really be all that interesting, but it's about me in a way I guess so I thought I'd do it..

As the title suggests this is a post about tattoos and piercings.. mine of course, lol.
So I'll list what piercings I have/had, how old I was when I got them, I'll give them a pain rating out of 5 - 5 being the highest, and then I'll do the same with my tattoos, as well as the meanings behind them. I do want another tattoo and I'll talk about that after I've done my lists :)

Enjoy!

Piercings:
Currently have;

  • First set of holes in ears - I think these were done when I was maybe somewhere around 8 to 10 I don't remember them a whole deal I just remember I had a lot of trouble with them getting infected, my hair wrapping around them and when I'd lie on the couch to watch TV the earrings would actually catch on the couch pillow. I don't remember what the pain was like, this is way to far back in my childhood days.. lol
  • Second set of holes in ears - I got these when I was about 13, my dad actually took me to get them, and I remember going and being super brave about it and realizing getting your ears done doesn't really hurt at all I really can't remember this long ago but I'd probably rate the pain at about a 1 and a half.
  • Cartilage on my right ear - I got this when I was early 17, not quite up the top of my ear, as you'll see in pictures, I had this done because I was pretty sad that I had to take most of my piercings out for a beauty course that required no tattoos or piercings but said ears were fine. I'd say this hurt about a 4 and a half and still does continue to hurt every now and then and I am unsure why, I've had it for over a year now, it gets really sore to touch and actually smelly.. really strange does anyone else have this problem?
  • Belly button - I had this done when I was 15, the pain was about a 3 out of 5, it was meant to be for my 15th birthday, I got it done 2 days before lol.

No longer have anymore as of the start of 2013:

  • Nose - There is a huge story behind this, I originally got this done when I was 15, I was actually going to keep this piercing and not take it out after I had it redone, I took it out for my beauty course that I ended up quitting and went and got it pierced on the same side which was my left side, it got infected and a lump that wouldn't go away no matter what treatments I tried, tee tree oil, salt water, nothing worked so the lady I went to said she'd pierce the other side for me for free so I was like yeah okay and got the other side done instead, the exact same thing happened, and I am still to this day unsure as to why because I never had a problem when I first had it done at 15 and I had it all the way up until I was late 17 and I had to take it out.. So I've had my nose pierced 3 times, and I just decided to not worry about it anymore and left it about. - I may or may not be brave enough to get it pierced again soon, the pain for my nose would be a 4 and a half leaning towards more a 5, it was really painful for me.
  • Lip - I had this done when I was mid 17, it was more a rebellion kind of thing but then it grew on me and I actually loved it, I was told it suited me. My partner and I both got our lips pierced on the same side so we'd have matching piercings.. how cute.. lol, pain for this was about a 3.
  • Bottom navel -  Got this when I was late 16, I had this done twice by the same lady that did my nose, not trying to bad mouth her but I don't think she is one of the best piercers, the first time it it wasn't healing and she told me it was growing out and to come back when it was healed and she would do it again but deeper, so I waited and went back had it done again and the same thing happened so I just took it out and left it out it closed up over night, pain for this would be a 5, it was really really painful, it seemed like my skin was to tough of thick for the needle to go through it was a hot stinging kind of pain it was terrible, and now I am left with a scar just under my belly button.

Tattoos:

  • Love heart on wrist - There isn't a meaning for this other than I got it free because my first tattoo needed touching up and the guy who was meant to do it didn't show up for my appointment so I got a free small tattoo and I chose a small heart on the side of my wrist. Pain for this was about a 2. Took like not even a minute to do.. lol
  • Butterfly on my forearm - I got this for my 17th and had to go back about a week later to get it touched up as the colour was seriously not right, and that's how I got my free heart tattoo. Pain for this was about a 4. I had to sit for a little over an hour and a half, the pain did become very intense after sitting for so long..
  • Cancer ribbon - I got this ribbon in support of my mum who went through Thyroid Cancer and is still going through further treatments but at the moment she is free from cancer after having her whole thyroid removed. The colours for the ribbon vary I have seen teal, dark blue and pink, and then the colours I have which is teal, purple and pink. Pain was about a 3 and took less than half an hour to have done. I was 18 at the time so I got it by myself, mum dropped me to the tattoo shop and left.. lol I had this done at a completely different shop to where I got my love heart and butterfly. Which brings me to talk about my next tattoo...

So I was really really impressed/happy with the job a man called Seb did of my cancer ribbon for mum, I really want to go back there for another tattoo, and I have been saving for a while now, I need to get a quote on a price so I know how much to actually save, but I want to get a tattoo of a cat, I absolutly love cats, they are my favorite animal, and I am a foster carer for kittens, I found a cute design for a cat tattoo, I'm unsure where to get it as of yet. Any suggestions would be greatly accepted :)

Photos:

Piercings..

As you can see my bottom navel piercing never really healed and doesn't look very nice. I wish this piercing actually had of healed I loved it..

Tattoos..

The first 3 photos are of what my tattoo was before I got it touched up.

Tattoo now after it was touched up. I didn't ask for the bits of pink around the tattoo, the tattooist just decided he would put them there for me.. Thanks.. Not. I'm hoping the pink will fade.

Valentines Day #2

This post is basically a follow up from yesterdays.

I didn't go out for lunch, or tea, I did buy lunch though, which was sushi my first most favorite food in the entire world (second would be pasta, cook, drained, butter and salt and pepper mixed through with cheese ontop, or basically any pasta dish that's cheesy and creamy) so I just had cooked tuna and avocado, prawn and avocado and crab and avocado yum yumm.

I know I wasn't reaaally getting much for valentines day as my partner really doesn't see the point.. but... I did get a valentines day charm for my Pandora bracelet.. eeeee.

Because I didn't go out anywhere apart from to buy my Pandora charm I didn't dress up and my makeup was pretty much foundation - liquid and then powder, a few coats of mascara, curl my lashes, no eyeliner or eye shadow, quick swipe of light pink blush, baby lips lip balm and then palmers coco butter lip butter on my lips aaaand that was it! Lol

So now onto photos!
I'll explain my charms with prices although I'm not trying to brag, just if any one is interested to know, this is at the end of the photos..

So the charms I have are not in any order, all but one has meaning... So I'll start with the love heart and love charm;

Love heart with pink stone in the middle - There is no meaning to this other than I absolutely loved it and had to have it so I saved up and bought it for myself. $49

Love Words Charm - This is my recent one for Valentines day my partner bought me. $55

Stack of Study Books - Sorry the picture isn't very clear, I got this when I finished year 12, it has an owl on the back of the book pile wearing a graduation cap, on the spine of one text book is engraved with the words 'text book' and on the other is has a heart, and on the front it says 'study' I got this because for me I felt finishing year 12 was something I should be proud of, I went through so much in 2012-2013 such as pretty bad depression and anxiety, bullying, my mum went through cancer and much more, it was a really hard time for me so I am proud I passed year 12 when there was days I pretty much gave up on my education, but not only did I pass I also worked so hard and achieved a Certificate 3 in Business, yay! $35

18th Dangle Charm - I got this from my mum on my 18th of course, so I guess the meaning is that I finally hit 18.. lol. $39

Jeweled Circle - I don't think this an actual Pandora charm, my friend gave it to me as a friendship charm for my bracelet, which was super nice of her and I love it, it's really sparkly, can't go wrong with sparkles!

Forever Together - My favorite, my partner bought me this about a year ago, this wasn't bought on any special day, and it didn't need to be, I think it means enough on it's own without a day, hopefully we will be 'together forever' so far we've been together for 20 months! nearly two years.. woweee. $35

Christmas Bootie - I bought this on the same day I got my bracelet which was a couple days after Christmas, I received $50 from my partners mother and so I decided I'd buy myself a Christmas charm instead of wasting the money, turns out my partners mum hates me, we now don't speak or have any connection so I think this is now my least favorite charm, perhaps I'll buy a new Christmas charm this year, who knows.. $35

So like I said I am in no way trying to brag, I thought I'd include the prices for those interested, I know I would be, and if they weren't included then I'd snoop to find out.. lol.

So in conclusion... Happy Valentines Day Everyone, I hope everyone had a good day whether they celebrated the day or not!

Valentines Day

Aww!

So tomorrow is Valentines day and unlike most girls I'm not really doing anything, although I am not single, my partner just doesn't see the point in celebrating the day.. But with that being said I think I'll take myself out to lunch to have my favorite from last time I went out which I blogged about here; Lunch Date.

I'll post photos of my outfit and makeup for the day I'm thinking of keeping it sweet and pretty, not to heavy, keeping it a shimmery rose gold/light browns/light shimmery pink/ neutral lip, kind of style I'll only be going out to lunch, if that, so I won't be wanting to be too 'made up' somehow I don't think my food is going to appreciate how I look.. Lol

I hope everyone has a wonderful day full of looooove! hehee xx

Exciting news!

Okay so I have some seriously exciting news....... I  am currently in the process of becoming a foster carer!

A foster carer for kittens that is, I've said I can take on a couple of kittens at a time so maybe up to 3 kitties and they'll probably be about 3 or 4 weeks old, I will have to care for them until they are 8 weeks and then hand them back over the cat shelter where they will have all their vaccinations, be de-sexed and then adopted out to loving homes.

The cat center provides everything like kitten food, litter, bedding etc but I'm more than happy to purchase things with my own money which I will probably end up doing.

While I'm looking for a full time job and not having much luck, volunteering my time until I get a job is better than doing nothing and sitting around all day!

I cant wait to blog about my little kittens and post cute pictures! I'm thinking I'll do a post once a week for the 4 weeks the kittens are with me until I get a new lot of kitties that need looking after :)

I have some photos of some cats/ kittens I took when I visited the cat center like 3 days in a row lol (crazy cat lady)

Enjoy!

Lunch Date!

Completely unrelated to makeup (my blog is for everything Jessika so I guess this post is okay!)

I went out to lunch one Wednesday with my friend!

I wanted to make this post because I had an absolutely lovely day and I don't really get out of the house much with anyone other than my partner so it was good to see my friend (I haven't seen her for about 2/3 months which is awful! but we still kept in contact with eachother)

I live pretty much across the road from a hotel/pub (Claremont Hotel) so my friend drove around to mine (handiest thing is having your licence, it really is!) we chatted for a while and then we walked over in the lovely sunshine, the day was perfect for a short ish walk.

I ordered from the "Claremont Classics" menu. I decided to go with the "Fettuccine Bosco" which is "Our famous Bosco sauce, with pan-fried chicken, garlic prawns and brandy folded through fettuccine pasta"
It was absolutely delicious I would certainly have it again next time I have lunch or tea there!

My friend had a Chicken Schnitzel with mushroom gravy mm yum yum!

Maybelline Colour Show Nail Polish - Review -

I purchased this nail polish a few weeks ago, I got it mainly because it was cheap (on special) I don't wear nail polish much anymore these days as I usually can't be bothered or I get gel nails done,I'll post a pic of my most recent gels.

I am a bit disappointed with this nail polish, I have used a base/nail hardener as my nails are rather weak after I pulled my gel nails off (loong story, I know it's terribly bad to pull them off also but it had to be done, I stupidly dyed my hair semi red without using the gloves, my nails stained red and looked awful so I had to remove them!) I put this nail polish on about 2 hours before I went out for the night and by the end of the night (which for me was about 5am) the colour had seriously chipped off :( the colour is really bright and the chunks of glitter really catch the light, I found 1 coat to be pretty vibrant but I went the extra mile and did 1 more and that would be all you probably needed, unless of course to touch up the chips.

Over all I am impressed with the colour pay off and just how "shiny" the polish is, I'm just disappointed at how easily it chipped off when it wasn't like I was digging in the garden, I wasn't using my hands really other than to hold drinks, my phone, handbag and to talk (does anyone else use their hands to talk? lol)

My Gel Nails :)

Katy Perry - Oh So Sheer - Review!

About a week ago I was looking through our fortnightly "junk mail" and came across a Katy Perry perfume that was the exact same bottle as Killer Queen but purple, I then read on to find out it was limited edition, 100ml and only $50. So I just had to get it! I had previously received Killer Queen that was 30ml as a present and did want to purchase another bottle, but now I have Oh So Sheer!

So on the very same day I went and purchased Oh So Sheer, I did so without even testing it before buying - I had a lot of faith in this perfume!! I waited till I got home and ripped it out and sprayed it everywhere lol, no, not really but I sprayed Killer Queen on one of my arms and Oh So Sheer on my other to compare and I do agree with a few blogs/reviews I have read that Oh So Sheer is a more summer smell and Killer Queen is a more warmer wintry smell in a sense I guess, either way I love both smells but I'm leaning more towards Oh So Sheer!

The bottle and packaging is of course purple, but the top cap/crown part of the bottle is significantly lighter then Killer Queen as you will be able to see in the pics below, the whole bottle itself is lighter and brighter then Killer Queen, which to me comes across as that the fragrance is lighter and sweeter.

I hope you enjoyed my review this perfume is absolutely amazing it definitely will be my signature smell!
