SensatioNail by Nailene - REVIEW -

So today I have a great product I'm going to be reviewing!
- I'd like to add I've only used this once as it isn't something that can be used day after day so my first trial of this was the other day and I am just learning so it is a little messy.
- I'd also like to apologize for the lighting and background of where I have these items, the weather is being super strange today so I had to use flash as there was no light! and I currently don't really have a background/backdrop to set up my items so for the moment I'm using my laptop and my bed, this doesn't decrease the awesomeness of the products I am reviewing though!

So lets get started!

I picked up the SensatioNail Starter Kit in Scarlet Red for around $67 from Priceline, I purchased this first from Target for $90 and an hour later saw Priceline had them cheaper so I most certainly went and got my money back, the same thing happened with the separate nail colours you can buy, I didn't bother to take it back and buy from Priceline the difference was only about $4.

In the starter kit you receive the following items; Gel cleanser, gel primer, colour gel polish, gel base & top coat, lint-free wipes, double-sided nail buffer, manicure stick and a SensatioNail 7w LED Lamp.
I purchased an extra polish colour, and when you do that you get the gel colour and a manicure stick.

I've only ever had my nails done in a salon by professionals and I've usually never had a gel manicure like this, this is more simple, it doesn't add length but it does make your nails harder and sturdier plus you get a nail colour that should last you up to two weeks according to the starter kit box, I'll post after 2 weeks is up on how I felt they lasted.

I chose the colour Scarlet Red as I never really wear red and I'm really impressed with the colour it's not too dark and it's not too bright, I'd compare it too the Coke a Cola label read. I was feeling a little overwhelmed, thinking I couldn't do these nails myself, how do I know what to do? I've never done this before, it looks soo hard, but in all honesty it really wasn't that hard, I was a little confused at work with a few things which I'll explain further. I was really happy to open the box and find there was a step by step process which helped me a great deal!

So the SensatioNail Starter Kit comes with a mini step by step guide on how to do your nails, I started doing this, one of the steps told me to apply gel primer and let air dry which I did for about 3 minutes I touched my nails and they had gone sticky/tacky so I left them to dry for a little longer thinking maybe I'd put too much product on, I think after nearly 10 minutes they were still tacky and sticky so I just decided to go ahead onto the next steps and my nails were fine! the last step where you need to use the lint-free wipes with the gel cleanser they didn't mention again that your nails would be sticky/tacky and that once you remove the top layer they are fine and you are left with dry nails, I think for someone who has no idea about gel and gel nails this was a little daunting at first and maybe it's not as such with people who do their own nails and know what is up with the tacky and stickyness, but I'd just have liked a little more information. My nails turned out fine which I'm happy about!

The colour pay off is great for the Scarlet Red, in the instruction it says to do two coats and cap the nail, I have no idea how to cap the nail without covering my finger so I skipped that and so far I don't see why I really needed to, maybe the reason will show in a few more days. So far I am so really happy with this product I wish I could do my nails again already!

Photos! again sorry about lighting and background!

My nails are messy! I am only just starting out!!

SNOW!

So today, Andrew and I went to Mount Wellington! and there was snow, although I assumed there was going to be some there anyway but I didn't expect it to be as much as there was! we did the "Tasmanian" thing which seems to be putting snow on your car and then going home/seeing how far you can get before it falls or melts off. I had loads of fun since this was the first time I've ever seen snow!

Here are some photos! :P enjoy

John Frieda hair colour review!

I am always dying my hair and just recently I've found a really good hair dye, so I thought, why not do a review and maybe someone else will love it just as much as I do!

The hair dye I'm reviewing is; John Frieda Precision Foam Colour.
You can get this for about $14 or less when it is on special but normal price it retails for around $22, but don't let the price put you off, unlike most hair dyes if you have a lot or thick hair you will usually need 2 dyes, but I only ever need the one and there is so much left over! my hair is a bit past my shoulders, thickish and is usually hard to get the hair dye through so there are always patches and bits missed, but with John I never have a problem! Plus if you are like me and have to buy two colours the price works out the same anyway!

I've used John about 5 or so times now and just recently I have changed my colour to a reddish brown and love it, one thing I do hope to see from this brand is maybe more intense, brighter reds and purples, at the moment they seem to be doing more natural colours, which is fine, I was just a little disappointed when I wanted to go a brighter red there were none in the range, so I haven't actually didn't bother to go with another brand and get a brighter red, that's just how committed I am to this brand I guess..

This is the colour I have been getting.
The colour I decided to swap to for a change, loving it! I recommend it especially if you want a natural reddy brown colour.

Annoying me...

Okay, this is something that has been bugging me and annoying me ever since I've started used bloggger/blogspot.. I can't get the "don't track my page views" to work! arrrggg I've tried doing this;

If you are using Chrome, go to Settings>Advanced Settings>Privacy>Content Settings>Cookies>Manage Exceptions

Add the following to you exception list :
[*.]blogspot.com
[*.]blogspot.sg (Depending on where you are from, it could be .something else)
[*.]blogger.com

aaaand it just does not work, I have tried all 3 but the main one which would have made sense to me to use was [*.]blogspot.com.au because that's whats in my URL...

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP FOR THE LOVE OF GODDDDDD AAARRHHHHHGGGG

Is 19 too young?!

I love babies and kids I have done since I was 12 or 13, I would go to our towns library and go to the kids section and take a picture book, go sit in a couch, I would read aloud and eventually I had kids come and sit down and listen to me read to them, my mum thought this was cute and the librarians didn't mind at all.

Then from age 15 or so, if I saw someone in the shopping center or out and about on the street with a pram or holding a baby I always got as close as I could to have a look and go aww and make a fuss over the child, I enjoyed seeing cute little babies.

I will be 19 in about a months time and I've really been thinking about having a baby, I've always loved kids, I'd love a little baby, I really want to start my family off with a little girl, I often imagine how she will look, will she have dark hair like me and big blue eyes like her dad? or dark brown hair and dark brown eyes like her mum or her dads light brown hair and blue eyes with freckles? will she be born with hair (like I was) or no hair.

I currently don't have a job as I quit my last you can read about that here (why I quit) my partner does work full time, and he has his licence and a reliable car. We currently live together and have been for a bit over a year now, unfortunately we do not have a place of our own and share a spacious room at my mothers, to give an idea of how big we have a (brand new I just bought a few weeks ago) Samsung fridge with freezer, a treadmill (against my wants and wishes but it's in there) my double bed, a large 40inch flat screen TV, along with gaming cupboards my partner built to fit his games and consoles, a wardrobe, chest of draws, pantry and there is still a big wide open space. The room could be moved to suit a new born and items could be removed to make more room if necessary.

My partner would prefer to wait a couple more years but I don't think he would mind if it happened unplanned, I take the pill and have been taking it since I was about 14, so for about 5 years now, and I've had no problems, we could be using condoms as well but I don't feel the need to, I know the pill can fail but I've had such a good run so far, and if I found out I was pregnant tomorrow, I wouldn't be disappointed, worried, scared, angry or anything like that as I feel I am old enough now to be able to cope with being able to look after myself and someone else who needs me. (Heck I've looked after my partner for 2 years and he's a big baby.. lol)

My mum would probably like for me to be a few years older, my partners parents are probably in the same boat.

I think at the end of the day if it happens it happens, I'm NOT trying to get pregnant but I'd like to be, I feel I need acceptance from everyone before I can decide whether or not I should be pregnant. Is 19 too young still? should I wait until I am 20-22-25? that is the question I would really liked answered...

Two Reviews in ONE!

Tonight I feel like doing two reviews together in one blog, just because, I can >.< Enjoy..

The two products I will be reviewing are; VO5 Give Me Texture, dry texturing spray and Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

We'll start with VO5 Give Me Texture spray;

I really like this product and I've only used it twice now! My hair is wavy to begin with (although it was dead straight until about 2 years ago) and adding this texturing spray intensifies my waves and turns them to beachy/messy/sexy full volume curls, my hair feels really nice and I feel it gives my hair some "oomf". The only downside I am having at the moment is that it doesn't (to me) smell nice, it's not an unpleasant smell, I was just expecting a berry or coconut smell but there doesn't seem to be a distinct smell, but that doesn't put me off this product as my shampoo is already packed full of smell :-)
I'd give this product a 5/5 I will be buying again.

Garnier Micella Cleansing Water

This is actually my second bottle! and is also another product I am really enjoying. I use to take about 15 to 20 minutes a night to clean my face, tone and moisturize but since trying this product I can say it easily takes me a bit over 5 minutes. I have found that I need to use maybe 4 to 5 makeup remover pads to fully get the product thus probably minimizing the "200 uses" but I am fine with that! I am really surprised that something can remove makeup including waterproof mascara but not sting and hurt your eyes like a soap or cleanser would, I love it so much. It doesn't really have a smell to it, it feels nice on the skin, and I've found I don't need to moisturize or even use toner. It's a miracle!
I give this a 5/5 also, and I will continue to buy this.

WHY I QUIT MY JOB!

I'm not sure if this is totally legal but I won't put the companies name. I feel something needs to be said, and hey if they come across it good! They need to know they did wrong by me...

I went for a job interview for a Junior Admin/ Reception position at a new college starting up here in Hobart, it focused on people aged from 16 with parent consent on wards and they offered diploma level courses.

Pretty much after the first interview it was looking good for me, my job search agency told me that they had been in contact with the company and that it looked like I had the job, I got a call later that day saying that they would like for me to come in for a second interview, so I dressed up nice and took in my folder of certificates (Certificate 3 in Buisness mainly) and achievements for them to have a look at.

I got to the interview and the boss (lets call her Julie) and her husband (we'll call him Dave) who is also in charge of things was in the interview as well, Julie tells me the reason they called me back for a second inerview was to tell me I had the job! I was thrilled, I was so happy, I really wanted the job because unlike other job interviews I had been to, I had felt so comfortable and confident it helped that Julie and Dave were super super friendly and I felt like they were my friends rather than boss's.

To cut things short, my first few weeks were fine, I was doing a lot of cleaning tasks such as; I had to mop the toilets, and then reoccurring clean them, empty bins throughout the premises, clean everyone's dishes in the staff kitchen (this included their used coffee cups, spoons, forks, knifes and plates) I was being given more and more cleaning to do rather than computer work such as data entry, I felt this was happening because I was never given a job description so it was easy for them to tell me what to do and I couldn't come back with "well that isn't in my job description" I didn't spend 2 years at college studying hard to get a certificate just to be made to be a cleaner/shit kicker. I even had a meeting with Julies husband and he told me that I wouldn't be the shit kicker forever.. so basically admitting to the fact they were having me as a shit kicker...

There were a lot of things I picked up over time that I felt wasn't right such as staff were always telling dirty/sexual jokes, being dirty and sexual towards one another (one woman said she was going to shut and lock her office door as her and another male worker were in there together, implying sex.) There was a day I needed to finish an hour early to go to the doctor about a hearing problem I was having, and I told Julie this and she told me that I could make the time up in my lunch break, which was half an hour, so for two days I would work a full straight 8 hour day with no lunch break, as it already was I wasn't having a 10 minute break and I was hardly going to the toilet (TMI - sorry) in fear of being told off in some way for that, I returned to work and said can this just come out of my sick pay, and Julie said it's okay I'll let it off this time. A few weeks later another staff member had to leave about an hour early and was told to make it up in his lunch break, which he did, and I felt it was so wrong. Staff often "bitched" about one another and they even discussed the students saying things like "there is something wrong with her, she is not all there" about a student who clearly had a mental issue, I decided to say "I actually happen to quite like her, I think she's quirky" and I got back from the staff " you like everyone" "your the only one that does like her then" like how is it okay to make remarks about a student!

I had to take 3 days off one week (I went to the doctor and he told me to take 2 extra days off on top of the day I already hadn't been) the days I had off were Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. When I returned to work on Monday I had been moved, I was no longer on reception and my computer and items had been moved to an almost secluded area where I could no longer see anyone, the jobs I had, had been taken away from me and I was given a new set of jobs such as keeping the staff toilet paper stocked, the staff lunchroom clean and I had to go to the post office every day as apposed to twice a week (this would usually be about a 40min walk for me as I don't have a car or my licence) and no one was talking to me, they were all ignoring me Julie my boss included, I broke down in tears when Dave asked me how I was since I'd had a fair bit of time off and he took me to have a meeting where I found that during one of the days I wasn't there all the staff had, had a meeting about ME and said they didn't want me there, they felt I wasn't doing enough, I was rude to them and students (which is not the person I am! and unless you know me personally you probably can't make that judgment) so I thought right if that's how it is, I'll just quit so I stuck the rest of that day out and went to work the next day, kept to myself was quite, did my work, and at the end of the day handed in my resignation letter and left.

Later that night I received a call from David saying he'd say I was made redundant so that I could go back onto receiving centrelink benefits and they would pay me out for a week.. I feel like he did this as he felt guilty for the way I was being treated..

I had been getting advice from a representative from Fair Work throughout the weeks all of this was happening and they assured me that I should NOT have been doing all the cleaning duties I was being given, and that not having a job description was illegal.

Life is a learning curve, jobs will come and go, I felt so positive about this job and it just turned out to be awful but I've taken it as a learning experience and next time I will stand up for myself instead of being the "shit kicker" I have put in an expression of interest for next year with Tafe to do an animal studies course so I look forward to that!

If your experiencing workplace bullying please don't sit there and take it, in this day and age it's not acceptable and if it was then why do we have Fair Work and such?

I'M BACK (sort of)

For the last few months I've had some things going on, I decided to stop blogging because I ended up not having as much time as I thought I did to be able to regularly post as much as I would have liked to..
One of the main reasons for this was that I actually got full time work and was working for a bit over 2 months when I decided to quit. I've made a post about that if anyone would like to read about why I left my job.

I also hadn't been getting out and about much, so I hadn't bought any new makeup or products to blog about.

I was also feeling depressed again and decided I needed to take some time out for me. My partner moved 3 hours away from me and I could only see him 2 days a week, we hardly spoke while he was gone as he had to work and I felt it was really stressing me out, getting me down and putting strain on the relationship. He's back now (yay) which is good and I feel I am in a better state of mind now too!

So I probably won't be posting everyday, maybe a post here or there throughout the week, I'll probably blog about lots of different and random things, we'll see!

So bear with me everyone, posts happening soon :)

NYX The It List

So I was in Target today with mum looking at clothes when I remembered, ' hey! I totally forgot that Target got NYX products in, I wonder if they have the 'The It List' sets' so I went over to see what they had and I found this baby...

This lovely little set retails for $29 and for some reason I could only see "the pinks" I couldn't find the natural lip set.

I've been eyeing this off for a while, I saw someone post a picture a while ago saying that Target was getting these in and they were going to be $29 which is seriously good value, so I went online onto the NYX website to see what more I could find out about this set and made myself even more excited. I'm saving up my pennys and will be buying this in a weeks time so look out for a review! ee so exciting.

Minimal Posts & Kmart

I haven't posted in a while, I've been very busy looking after my foster kitty who is only 4 weeks old, and also, honestly I haven't been to sure on what to post about, but I do now!

My local Kmart has completely done up their makeup section, brought in more brands and even brought out their own brand makeup and nails. One brand I am really excited to buy from is BYS. I bought an eyeshadow palette of theirs about a year ago and when it ran out I didn't bother buying another because there was no where close to me that sold their products but now I have no excuses, I've used nail polishes and foundations from BYS before so I am super happy.

I went in to Kmart have a look at everything and ended up walking out with Kmart brand false nails which were $5 and a BYS 48 eyeshadow palette that was $9.75.

I'm hoping to create a pretty and bright look to share with the palette and also post photos of when I put the nails on!

ModelCo

So last night I was scrolling through my instagram (http://instagram.com/jessika_sky) newsfeed and came across a posting from Brontie about ModelCo, she and a few other expressed their extreme dislike for this brand, Brontie messaged me and told me a few reasons why she disliked this brand so much and also linked me to another blog where more people were expressing dislike and hate, and I was actually really interested in all this hate as I actually found out that I have an eyeshadow trio from ModelCo (I wasn't too sure if it was actually that brand or another I usually just grab whatever eyeshadow colour I'm after for the day and go for it) which I had actually been using and seemed to not have any problems with, as with using one of their fiber lash mascara's a long time ago.

I actually got the eyeshadow and fiber mascara with a Cleo or Cosmopolitain magazine yonks ago, maybe like 2 years now, and I know it's not sanitary to keep reaaaally old eyeshadows, mascaras etc but I found this trio was still working for me and giving me good colours and pigmentation, I'd long used the mascara and was actually going to get another but it was really expensive at the time, the mascara was Fiber Lash Brush on False Lashes.

I'm not saying I love or hate this brand as I've really only used two products, but I will say the two products I used I didn't actually mind, I'm thinking I might trial out one of their lippys or a mascara who knows lol, but the eyeshadow trio I have actually retails for $26! I think that is just a little much for 3 colours, although they are nice and pigmented I think maybe $10 for the trio would be more acceptable. Here is a link to the eyeshadow trio, Mine is in the colour "Bronzed Goddess" ModelCo Eyeshadow Trio.

The 3 colours in this trio are actually really nice, I found the brown isn't as sparkly as the first two. I really love the first colour as you can tell!

I have 3 swatches of the colours, with flash of a camera on, outside but not directly in sunlight and then in sunlight.

With flash

Outside but not in direct sunlight

In sunlight

Now I have actually created a kind of everyday neutral look (for me anyway, I pretty much wear this everyday) using these three colours,
I took the second colour which is the pinkish toned colour and put all over my lid, I used the dark brown colour in my outer V I then put the first colour, in the middle of my lid, in between the dark brown and pink colour, and blended, I feel that doing this makes your eyes really pop and look bright. You may or may not be able to tell I have done this.

I hope you all enjoyed this review/ makeup look!

Tattoos and Piercings..

I don't know if this post will really be all that interesting, but it's about me in a way I guess so I thought I'd do it..

As the title suggests this is a post about tattoos and piercings.. mine of course, lol.
So I'll list what piercings I have/had, how old I was when I got them, I'll give them a pain rating out of 5 - 5 being the highest, and then I'll do the same with my tattoos, as well as the meanings behind them. I do want another tattoo and I'll talk about that after I've done my lists :)

Enjoy!

Piercings:
Currently have;

  • First set of holes in ears - I think these were done when I was maybe somewhere around 8 to 10 I don't remember them a whole deal I just remember I had a lot of trouble with them getting infected, my hair wrapping around them and when I'd lie on the couch to watch TV the earrings would actually catch on the couch pillow. I don't remember what the pain was like, this is way to far back in my childhood days.. lol
  • Second set of holes in ears - I got these when I was about 13, my dad actually took me to get them, and I remember going and being super brave about it and realizing getting your ears done doesn't really hurt at all I really can't remember this long ago but I'd probably rate the pain at about a 1 and a half.
  • Cartilage on my right ear - I got this when I was early 17, not quite up the top of my ear, as you'll see in pictures, I had this done because I was pretty sad that I had to take most of my piercings out for a beauty course that required no tattoos or piercings but said ears were fine. I'd say this hurt about a 4 and a half and still does continue to hurt every now and then and I am unsure why, I've had it for over a year now, it gets really sore to touch and actually smelly.. really strange does anyone else have this problem?
  • Belly button - I had this done when I was 15, the pain was about a 3 out of 5, it was meant to be for my 15th birthday, I got it done 2 days before lol.

No longer have anymore as of the start of 2013:

  • Nose - There is a huge story behind this, I originally got this done when I was 15, I was actually going to keep this piercing and not take it out after I had it redone, I took it out for my beauty course that I ended up quitting and went and got it pierced on the same side which was my left side, it got infected and a lump that wouldn't go away no matter what treatments I tried, tee tree oil, salt water, nothing worked so the lady I went to said she'd pierce the other side for me for free so I was like yeah okay and got the other side done instead, the exact same thing happened, and I am still to this day unsure as to why because I never had a problem when I first had it done at 15 and I had it all the way up until I was late 17 and I had to take it out.. So I've had my nose pierced 3 times, and I just decided to not worry about it anymore and left it about. - I may or may not be brave enough to get it pierced again soon, the pain for my nose would be a 4 and a half leaning towards more a 5, it was really painful for me.
  • Lip - I had this done when I was mid 17, it was more a rebellion kind of thing but then it grew on me and I actually loved it, I was told it suited me. My partner and I both got our lips pierced on the same side so we'd have matching piercings.. how cute.. lol, pain for this was about a 3.
  • Bottom navel -  Got this when I was late 16, I had this done twice by the same lady that did my nose, not trying to bad mouth her but I don't think she is one of the best piercers, the first time it it wasn't healing and she told me it was growing out and to come back when it was healed and she would do it again but deeper, so I waited and went back had it done again and the same thing happened so I just took it out and left it out it closed up over night, pain for this would be a 5, it was really really painful, it seemed like my skin was to tough of thick for the needle to go through it was a hot stinging kind of pain it was terrible, and now I am left with a scar just under my belly button.

Tattoos:

  • Love heart on wrist - There isn't a meaning for this other than I got it free because my first tattoo needed touching up and the guy who was meant to do it didn't show up for my appointment so I got a free small tattoo and I chose a small heart on the side of my wrist. Pain for this was about a 2. Took like not even a minute to do.. lol
  • Butterfly on my forearm - I got this for my 17th and had to go back about a week later to get it touched up as the colour was seriously not right, and that's how I got my free heart tattoo. Pain for this was about a 4. I had to sit for a little over an hour and a half, the pain did become very intense after sitting for so long..
  • Cancer ribbon - I got this ribbon in support of my mum who went through Thyroid Cancer and is still going through further treatments but at the moment she is free from cancer after having her whole thyroid removed. The colours for the ribbon vary I have seen teal, dark blue and pink, and then the colours I have which is teal, purple and pink. Pain was about a 3 and took less than half an hour to have done. I was 18 at the time so I got it by myself, mum dropped me to the tattoo shop and left.. lol I had this done at a completely different shop to where I got my love heart and butterfly. Which brings me to talk about my next tattoo...

So I was really really impressed/happy with the job a man called Seb did of my cancer ribbon for mum, I really want to go back there for another tattoo, and I have been saving for a while now, I need to get a quote on a price so I know how much to actually save, but I want to get a tattoo of a cat, I absolutly love cats, they are my favorite animal, and I am a foster carer for kittens, I found a cute design for a cat tattoo, I'm unsure where to get it as of yet. Any suggestions would be greatly accepted :)

Piercings..

As you can see my bottom navel piercing never really healed and doesn't look very nice. I wish this piercing actually had of healed I loved it..

Tattoos..

The first 3 photos are of what my tattoo was before I got it touched up.

Tattoo now after it was touched up. I didn't ask for the bits of pink around the tattoo, the tattooist just decided he would put them there for me.. Thanks.. Not. I'm hoping the pink will fade.
